Staff

The PreSchool  is staffed by an enthusiastic, caring and highly-qualified set of teachers. They have many years of experience in Early Years childcare and are all checked by the Criminal Records Bureau. Currently, five members of staff are qualified to Supervisor level or above; all other staff members are either fully qualified Pre-school Assistants or working towards this qualification. Below is a short profile of each of them.

Sarah Hickling, joint Supervisor, has completed Level 3 NVQ in Childcare and is the Pre-school’s Equality and Diversity Coordinator. She enjoys the challenge of Pre-school and loves interacting with the children. Sarah has lived in Goring since 1999 and loves it! Both her two daughters attended the Pre-school, and are now at Langtree. Her family have a large array of pets, including a goldfish, cats, guinea pigs, chickens and dogs. She enjoys keep fit classes and is the current Goring Gymnastics Committee Chairperson.


Debbie Lewington

Debbie Lewington,  is joint supervisor. She has a degree in Early Childhood Studies, completed EYPS training in 2011, and is the nominated Early Years Professional (EYP) in the setting. Debbie is the Special Educational Needs co-ordinator (SENCO) and Behaviour Management Co-Ordinator (BMCO).

Debbie grew up in Goring as a teenager, and left after completing her childcare qualification NNEB to work as a nanny. She moved back to Goring when married and joined the preschool in 2005. She has two children who both attended preschool. Debbie has a particular interest in special needs, art and crafts, reading and cooking, and has helped to establish cooking and gardening at preschool.


Tracey Taylor

Tracey Taylor, the Deputy Supervisor has a degree in art history and is a qualified primary school teacher. She started helping out in 1998 when her daughters attended pre-school, and has been there ever since. She enjoys the creative side of things in Pre-school and loves singing and rhymes and often plays the guitar at music time. Tracey has lived in Goring since 1991; she enjoys walking her dog, playing guitar, listening to music and spending time with family and friends.


Cheryl Cooper-Smith

Cheryl  Allen  (née Cooper-Smith) is  a Pre-school assistant and has a BTEC National Diploma in Nursery Nursing and qualified as a Nursery Nurse in 1994. She joined Pre-school in 2005 and is the Pre-school’s Safeguarding Children Coordinator. Cheryl moved to Goring in 2004 and has two sons who attend Goring Primary School.


Jenny Jones

Jenny Jones, a Pre-school assistant who has been at Pre-school since 1991, when she completed the Pre-school Playgroup Association Foundation course (and has done many more since then). Jenny has a keen interest in children’s creative and physical development. Jenny has lived in Goring since 1980 with her 2 sons, now young men, who both attended our Pre-school. Her hobbies are gardening and reading.


Helen Townsend

Helen Townsend, a Pre-school Assistant, has an honours degree in International Politics, and her career prior to Pre-school was in the business world.  When Helen took a career break to concentrate on her family, her interest in education, child development and welfare blossomed. She thoroughly enjoys working with the children and rediscovering the world through their eyes. She is married with a daughter aged 15 and has lived in the area for 20 years. Hobbies include being outdoors and walking her dog, reading and attempting to keep fit !
